Tips to optimize the performance of your computer
This little guide, we have developed, is to try to solve some of the questions that may arise about why my PC is slow? What can I do to increase the performance of my PC? And what can I do for my OS boot before? Here we will try to explain as briefly as possible, we solve these doubts.
Before going into details we would like to clarify that these tips are valid, but for different OS currently on the market (Linux, Windows, Mac, to name a few), these tips are more aimed towards the Windows system. But as we have said is true for the other OS on the market. Then start with the number of tips for as we have said before trying to solve the doubts.
Uninstall programs you do not use and do not want:
Using the computer we install several programs which after a while we no longer use. This not only affects the hard drive space but also makes the speed of the OS making it more slow since overloading memory, registry entries, etc.. It also applies to much of the preset programs or series that comes with your computer and do not want them.
To remove these useless programs you no longer use, we can go to the “Add or Remove Programs” included in the OS itself and also use a number of existing programs that can better help us in that operation as RevoUnnistaller or Geek Unnistaller.
This not only get free space on the hard drive, but will also increase the overall speed of the PC will have less to process. It should also be remembered that there are a large number of portable programs which take up very little space by not having to be installed.
Add more RAM modules:
By adding more RAM or better get not only increase the performance of your computer, but also thanks to the improvement in memory before your operating system starts.
We can always add more RAM modules to our motherboard or memory if you already have the maximum RAM module occupied, we can change to a higher frequency, for example, if we already have 4 modules of RAM at 1600 MHz change 1866 MHz, etc.. Or replace them if they are DDR2 and DDR3 greater capacity, for example, if we have 4 2GB modules you change them by 4 or 2 of those 4GB 2GB modules to 4GB.
Keep in mind that whether adding more RAM modules, as changed for larger ones or a higher frequency should always look if our team supports it, as if we might 4GB DDR2 with a frequency of 1033 MHz and we are going to put a 4Gb DD3 1866 MHz, as our board does not support that frequency so whenever you go to change the RAM we should know how much capacity and frequency to support us.
Defragment your hard drive:
It is also advisable to defragment your hard drive, in some distros of Linux and other OS this is not necessary, but for this example we talked as a base to install Windows. Since the information stored on the hard disk is not saved then, we mean that it will not file after another like a long tail, if not alternating and due to the installation of software, games and other files we store on our hard drive that our PC will be slower.
Defragmenting the hard drive what we got is that the files that are sauteed in our record are grouped. This can be done either from the process that brings the OS itself, in the folder where we comes the hard disk in Windows XP is on MY PC, Win7 and above is equipment, you right click and select properties (this figure so by default in Windows), hence the Tools section is selected and see a party brings Defragmentation.
Keep updated software:
Although it may not seem important to the OS with their latest updates, yes it is, as some are to improve performance and safety among others, at the same time we also need to keep software updated the other components of PC ( such as the graphics card) and other programs like antivirus, browsers, etc.. This not only get eliminate some bugs or problems they bring some software, such as the example graphics cards that may have a problem lighting or pixelated to update its driver (or controller), to its latest version is usually fix these drawbacks.
Use an SSD:
We can always change the HDD (the current lifetime and regular hard drive) for a solid state drive or SSD. These are smaller, quieter and above all have a very superior speed both read and write compared to a conventional HDD. By having a higher speed data transmission starting the OS, this will be much faster than the HDD lifetime.
Since the SSD is much faster than a regular hard drive, it’s a very wise choice to put one on your computer not just start earlier, but also the programs that we install will work better, but we must not forget that Today as of publication of this article, the SSDs are not yet large capacity so we also have a HDD to store data and other programs we need.
Keeping the computer clean:
To keep it clean we mean the digital cleaning that we do to our PC, because due to the passage of time with both the installation or removal of software, games Internet browsing or store other data we will fill your computer data simple view we can not see, then try briefly detailing what it is this step.
For the digital cleaning of your computer whether it is desktop or laptop you have to know that we have different things to clean up, we have the cookies, temporary files (be they the own OS or Internet browser), Windows registry, trash etc..
For digital cleaning can be done in two ways, the first is manually searching the appropriate folders and registry entries that we want to eliminate or we can also do automatically with any program either installed or portable, the CCleaner is a example of this type of program that allows us to make optimum cleaning of your PC, is also in portable version which will allow us to not have to install it we occupy less space on the hard disk or even put it on a USB.
