The new Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is a very comprehensive and interesting model
Sony has an extensive catalog of smartphones and tablets have a section, but in this case often release a single model year. Just a week ago the company renewed its tablet with the new Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet, a reissue that focuses on a new ultra lightweight design and much more, in addition to other new features. This model comes as a successor to the Sony Xperia Z Tablet. Both couples have been released as a new smartphone, the first near the Sony Xperia Z2 and the second next to the Sony Xperia Z, with whom they share some design and performance. Here we see the most striking differences between the last two tablets of the Japanese.
Sony has maintained the same display settings in both models, without changing even the smallest detail. Both have a 10.1-inch panel, which is usually the standard format large format tablet. The resolution is 1,920 x 1,200 pixels, so that the density is 224 dots per inch, which is not bad. The panel is of the capacitive type and recognizes gestures smooth one or more fingers. Sony also introduced the Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 technology, which enhances image quality and vivid colors generated by increasing the contrast.
The design of the two tablets follows the same line as the brand smartphones. The shape is rectangular with sharp corners, but the edges are rounded slightly so that is not so uncomfortable to hold in your hand. Another characteristic point is that, although the structure is aluminum, their faces are covered with sturdy glass, which makes its surface is reflective, but also causes it to mess with the tracks.
The Sony Xperia Z Tablet is very thin, only 6.9 mm and weighs 495 grams. It’s thin and light enough for a tablet of this size, but the new model has got to go further, with a thickness of 6, 4 mm and 439 grams. Both are water resistant, but the degree of protection of the latter model is larger, allowing complete immersion in water for an indefinite time.
The cameras of both models are quite similar, but there is one detail that makes the difference and is the type of sensor. The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet has an Exmor RS, which has improved to get good pictures in low light system, reduces noise effect and get HDR photos and videos with better quality. Meanwhile the previous model has an Exmor R, the previous edition is also ready to take pictures in low light, but obviously is not as advanced.
Both have 8 megapixels and share features like burst mode, HDR mode, Scene Recognition, the Superior Auto Mode, Full HD video recording and a 2.2 megapixel front camera. The guestrooms have digital zoom, although in this case Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet reaches eight times while the previous model reaches 16 increases.
Sony included in both models the usual multimedia functions at advanced devices. We talk about the PlayStation certificate or access to the Sony Entertainment Network suite. Also have FM radio with RDS and of course allow you to play all kinds of multimedia files, including HD.
The processor is one of the aspects that have also been modified with the new model, which boasts the last signed by Qualcomm chip. This is a Snapdragon 801 a quad-core Krait 400, running at 2.3 Ghz and anything less than 3Gb of RAM. Meanwhile the Sony Xperia Z Tablet has a chip Snapdragon S4 Pro, quad core also Krait and running at 1.5 Ghz. In this case the RAM is 2 GB. Speaking of memory, we turn to the storage capacity, which coincides integrated 16 Gb, with the option of expansion via MicroSD cards up to 64 Gb additional.
The latest model of Sony’s tablet is still not for sale, but when it hits stores come with Android 4.4 KitKat series, the latest installment of the Google system icons. Among the new features is the caller ID, SMS and unified Hangouts, slight changes in the interface and a system that improves performance making everything go smoother. The Sony Xperia Z Tablet features Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Sony has confirmed that s and also updated to version 4.4, nicknamed KitKat. In this sense both remain tied, the problem is that there is a specific date and could take a while.
Both models have full profile connections and are available in several versions, one with just WiFi and a mobile connection that has both 3G and 4G. They also have DLNA connection to duplicate the display on a compatible monitor, Bluetooth 4.0 port and an NFC chip with which to make payments and transfer files between other options. You could not miss the GPS antenna, the connection minijack for headphones and a microUSB port, which is compatible with MHL system.
The battery of the two tablets is 6,000 milliamps, large enough to provide a standby time of about 50 days, said soon. The latest model has duration of 13 hours when playing videos and 188 hours in the case of music. For its part, Sony Xperia Z Tablet falls a bit behind with 10 hours of video and 110 hours of music.
