Microsoft`s Surface Pro tablets have come a long way. From the first brand, Microsoft Surface RT, to the latest brand, Microsoft Surface Pro 5, Microsoft has constantly been upgrading the Surface tablets. Here is a review of each tablet by Techy View from the earliest SP to the most recent one.

Microsoft Surface RT

This make was launched on October 2010. The size of the 5-point multi-touch screen is 10.6 inches. The 2nd Generation Gorilla Glass enhances the display`s durability. It has a ClearType 16:9 display with a 1366 x 768 resolution. The PPI of the Microsoft Surface RT is 149. The tablet`s operating system is Windows RT 8. The tablet uses a Quad Core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor with a frequency of 1.30 GHz. It has an internal storage capacity of 32 GB, but only a 15 GB space is available to the user. It is available in 64 GB storage capacity as well, and the RAM is 2 GB. It has a front and a rear camera that can take 720p videos. The Microsoft Surface RT has a battery life of 9.5 hours and weighs 0.67 kgs. The tablet uses Bluetooth 4.0 technology and accepts Wi-Fi connectivity. The processor of the tablet is Intel Core i5 with a processing speed of 1.7 GHz which is an improvement. The tablet can be bought with either an internal space of 64 GB or 128GB, but usable space is 29 GB and 89 GB respectively. It uses a 4 GB RAM which is an improvement from the previous Surface tablet. It has a battery life of 4 hours which is a shorter period compared to the previous make. It weighs 0.9 kgs which are relatively heavier than the previous make. The ports on the tablet include the headphone jack, a USB 3.0 port, a micro SDXC card reader slot and a cover port.

Microsoft Surface Pro 2

The Microsoft Pro 2 was launched on October 2013. It uses the Windows 8.1 operating system. The tablet as well has a 10.6-inch ClearType display. Like the Microsoft Surface Pro tablet, it has a 1920 x 1080 screen resolution and a PPI of 208. It has an Intel HD 4400 graphics and an Intel Core i5-4200U processor. The tablet has a 4 GB RAM if the storage space is either 64 GB or 128 GB and an 8 GB RAM if the memory is either 256 GB or 512 GB. It has a 5 MP back camera and a 3.5 MP front camera which is an improvement from previous versions. The storage space of the tablet is either 32 GB or 64 GB. The tablet weighs 0.67 kgs. Its main operating system is Windows 8.1 Pro. Microsoft has given buyers a processor option of either Core i3, Core i5 or Core i7 and processing speed is improved to 1.9 GHz. It has a 4 GB RAM. Both front and back cameras are 5 MP. However; the battery life is 7 hours which is a downside compared to the Microsoft Surface 2 tablet. The tablet`s storage space is either 64 GB, 128 GB or 256 GB. The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 tablet weighs 0.8 kgs.

Microsoft Surface 3

It was launched on May 2015. The main operating system on this tablet is Windows 8.1. It has a 10.8 inch ClearType display and a 1920 x 1280 resolution. It has a PPI of 213 which is lower compared to the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 tablet. It has a front camera of 3.5 MP and a back camera of 8 MP. The processor of the tablet is Intel Atom Z8700 and has a processing speed of 1.6 GHz. The storage space of this tablet is either 64 GB or 128 GB, and the RAM for each is 2 GB and 4 GB respectively. The battery life is 9 hours. This is the lightest Microsoft Surface tablet. It weighs 0.62 kgs. Ports of this tablet include the micro SDXD card reader, micro USB charging port, a cover port, a headphone jack and a full-size USB 3.0 port.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 tablet was released on October 2015. It uses a Windows 10 operating system and comes with free apps such as Skype. The processor of the tablet is either the 6th Generation Intel Core i7, m3 or i5 and has a 2.4 GHz processing speed. It has a 12.3 inch TFT LCD touch screen with a 2736 x 1824 resolution and a PPI of 267. This is an improvement from older brands of the Microsoft Surface franchise. It has a 4 GB RAM that can be configured to 16 GB while storage spaces are either 128 GB, 256 GB or 1 TB. The i7-tablet uses Intel Iris 540 graphics while the m3 tablet uses Intel HD graphics 515 and the i5-tablet uses Intel HD graphics 520. It has a front camera of 5 MP and a back camera of 8 MP. The battery life of this tablet is 9 hours, and it weighs 0.77 kgs.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5
