The CES 2014, a look at the future of television
If it was for years the concept of surround sound, television has not yet achieved an immersive character that the viewer feel involved in the story of the film or that football game. Although they are already common 3D displays have failed to catch on and only remain as a minimum market share of household TV. Therefore, the appearance in the 2014 version shows great technological CES, held this week in this city, of the curved screens attracted all eyes of the public, businesses and specialized journalism.
Its gigantic sizes (exceeding 100), along with even more resolution 4K clearly marked where will the largest category of home entertainment. These teams with a curvature in the area do not yet have a definitive departure from shops or price, but it will be some time before anyone can buy the.
Like all early year’s CES (Consumer Electronics Show, for its acronym in English), was the focus of the eyes of all those interested in the latest technology, whether individuals, companies or amateurs. Here are presented in society many of the products and new technologies that will be available for purchase in the market for consumption in some months, although it also serves to ensure that manufacturers carry out marketing campaigns with global reach and to resolve old quarrels with their competitors.
Although, strictly speaking, the show began on Tuesday 7 and lasted until yesterday, there was much pre-show for the press activity. Sunday 5th CES Unveiled was held at the Mandalay Bay hotel, in which 60 companies were some of the products that were to exhibit days. Thinking that the CES (which takes place in the Convention Center in Las Vegas) only covers over 150,000 square feet arranged for the sample is wrong. In addition to the run in a lot of activity, several companies have product samples, exhibitions and conferences in various hotels in the city.
In its previous edition, CES saw the worldwide release of huge TVs 4K climbed to 80 ‘. They were responsible for ousting the throne to the Full HD technology to offer a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels which puts a halt to 1080p, although these are still the standard.
The televisions submitted this year were not only larger, but that the stars were the curves that were festooned with. The signatures LG and Samsung, which along with the Sony took the stalls with more influx of visitors) hoard glances with their TVs 105′ with LED screens and resolution a little greater than 4K.
Far from content with these releases, both companies added more seasoning; Samsung did with its Bendable TV, a TV that can be transformed from flat to curved touch of a button. With the same premise, LG TV also showed its convertible (from flat to curved) to be offered in a size of 77 ‘and OLED technology. The arrival of many models of families of curved TVs from LG and Samsung, come to the Argentine market by mid-year.
Other companies that showed their curved TV was Panasonic with a 4K model of 55” and Hisense. Meanwhile, companies like Sharp and began to introduce models of 3D TVs without the need for glasses, even experienced immersion experience was not all good. Also far from the curves, both Sony and TCL are presented their 4K 85” televisions. With the new 4K technology in its infancy, and some manufacturers provided a preview of what’s to come with some models who act as prototypes for TVs 8K (7680 x 4320 pixels).
The acronym UHD (Ultra HD or Ultra High Definition) was used recurrently throughout the fair. But beyond the resolution, the important thing is the experience that TVs offer. Each company sets its smart TV operating system that controls it. One is LG, which will use WebOS, the operating system that the company acquired nearly a year and plans to add 70% of its line of smart TV. In the same direction, Panasonic announced the signing of an agreement with Firefox to carry its mobile operating system to its family of smart TVs.
Companies gradually shorten the distances that separate the TV from a desktop computer. Already include robust operating systems, applications, Internet access, and many of them, updating the hardware using a kit that increases your performance. Other important announcements were signing agreements to deliver content on new platforms. Sony introduced the first movie download service at 4K, while LG has partnered with Netflix to offer users of its Ultra HD TV content via streaming.
Curved screens not only saturated in new TVs. The new curved phones, like the LG G Flex (which would be officially launched in Argentina in April or May of this year), were to be seen on the stand of the Korean company and joined other similar proposals, such as the Samsung Galaxy Round.
Other cellular presented were the Huawei Ascent Mate 2, with a screen of 6.1″ and has as main feature a long-lasting battery that promises to reach the two-day which can also be used as an external battery to charge other devices.
